San Mig Coffee Mixers - Champion of the 2013 PBA Governor's Cup

The San Mig Coffee Mixers is the champion of the 2013 PBA Governor's Cup sponsored by PLDT Telpad. The Mixers defeated the Petron Blaze Boosters 87-77 in Game 7 of their exciting championship series.




Marc Pingris was recognized as the Best Player of the Game with 19 points and 17 rebounds and 5 blocks. He was also awarded as the 2013 PBA Governor's Cup Finals MVP. Coach Tim Cone tied the record with Dalupan having 15 championships.

Petron Blaze Sets PBA Finals Date With San Mig Coffee

The Petron Blaze Boosters booked the last PBA Governors' Cup Finals slot by defeating the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Monday night, Oct. 7, at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. Petron Blaze denied Rain or Shine of a Finals seat in the Game 4 of their best-of-five semifinal showdown with the score 110-89.

Petron import Elijah Millsap led their team scorers with 34 points together with his 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal. Millsap started slow with just 5 points in the first quarters.

However, it was Marcio Lasssiter who blazed with his career high 7 out of 10 three pointers with 27 points in all for the game. Lassiter referred to his performance as, “It was just one of those nights,”, He added, “I just felt it.”

Cabagnot was also a key in their victory against the Elasto Painters with 23 points and made 4 treys. Millsap, Lassiter and Cabagnot combined for 84 points for Petron.



For Rain or Shine, import Arizona Reid led all the game scorers with 41 big points together with 16 rebounds but it was enough to lift his team as no other locals scored double digit except Belga with 10 points. Elasto Painter gunner Chan was scoreless in the game.

With the win, the Petron Blaze Boosters will face sister-team San Mig Coffee Mixers in the PBA Governor's Cup Finals which will start on Friday, October 11 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

San Mig Coffee Goes Back To PBA Governor's Cup Finals

The San Mig Coffee Mixers eliminated Meralco Bolts in Game 4 of their Semifinal series with 3-1 record to go back to the PBA Governor's Cup Finals. San Mig Coffee defeated Meralco with the final score of 79-73 in the game 4 of their best-of-five semifinal series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday night of Oct 6. San Mig is back again for second straight PBA Governor's Cup Finals.



Blakely led the way for the Mixers with 23 points, 19 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists and 1 block and made an all around performance especially in the end game. James Yap also had a great game with 19 points with 8/14 shooting.

Meralco did not start well with no basket in the first 4 minutes of the game. San Mig lead all the way but Meralco came close with 73-75 in the end game. However, Blakely dissed off a pass to Barroca to make it 77-73 with 23.3 seconds left in the game. The final blow was the 2 free throws made by Blakely after a huge offensive rebound.

San Mig Coffee will play the winner of the Petron Blaze Booster - Rain or Shine semifinal series. The finals will start on Friday, October 11 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Holiday on October 15, 2013 for EIDUL ADHA (FEAST OF SACRIFICE)

The Proclamation No. 658 declares October 15, 2013 as a regular holiday throughout the Philippines for the observance of EIDUL ADHA (FEAST OF SACRIFICE). The proclamation is released on Oct. 3, 2013 in Manila City. Eidul Adha is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam.



The declaration of a regular holiday for Eidul Adha is in accordance with Republic Act No 9849 which provides that Eidul Adha shall be celebrated as a regular holiday.

The date of festival is based on the declaration made by the highest religious body of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the date of October 15 as the observance of Eidul Adha was recommended by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF).
